S.A.R.S.

S.A.R.S. - Arsenal Fest 2026

S.A.R.S. is a Serbian alternative pop-rock band formed in 2006 in Belgrade. The band’s name is an acronym for Sveže amputirana ruka Satrijanija (“Freshly Amputated Arm of Satriani”), reflecting their distinctive sense of humor and unconventional approach to music.

The band was founded by singer Žarko Kovačević, better known as Žare, and musician Aleksandar Luković. S.A.R.S. quickly attracted attention thanks to their unique blend of rock, pop, reggae, ska rhythms, and Balkan ethno elements, combined with witty and often satirical lyrics that comment on everyday life and social issues.

They gained wider popularity in 2008 with the hit single Buđav lebac, which became a major internet phenomenon and one of the first viral regional music hits on YouTube. The song brought the band enormous popularity and opened the door to large concerts and festival performances across the region.

Throughout their career, S.A.R.S. has released several studio albums and a number of recognizable hits, including Lutka, Perspektiva, and Rakija. Their music is characterized by catchy melodies, energetic performances, and strong interaction with the audience.

Known for their powerful live shows and a large fan base across the Balkans, S.A.R.S. has become one of the most popular regional bands on the alternative and pop-rock scene. Their authentic sound, which blends different musical styles with humor and social commentary, has made them one of the most distinctive bands of the new generation from the former Yugoslav region.
